Giving It Another Try

Well - I am going to try this again. I am not sure what happened to all (4) of my earlier postings but they are gone. Oh well! The biggest news of the day is that it is Nash's birthday. I can't believe that he already 1! He is such a sweet little boy and I am so grateful for him each and every day! I will try and post some pictures of him after the big party tonight.

"Grandchildren are a grandparent's link to the future, and grandparents are the child's link to the past."
I love this picture of Karah & Grandpa Tanner. It isn't very often that a great grandfather is able to attend the wedding of his great granddaughter!

Time Flies!

Wow! I can't believe that it has been a month since I entered my last blog. I was going to do this every week, but ....
Christmas was great. Christmas Eve we spent trying to fit as many families in as possible. At noon we got together at Julie & Sheldon's house. Ofcourse we ate too much but what is Christmas without all of the food. At 5:00 we meet with the Jensen gang and ate and visited. This year with them, we didn't do a gift exchange. Instead, we all donated food and treats and put together boxes to take to a family that we felt needed it. By 9:00 we headed home to do our 'own' thing with the kids. We had drawn names and so we opened up those gifts.
I decided that I wanted to do something a bit different for the gift opening on Christmas morning. Usually it is just a frenzy! I wrapped all of the gifts and put an answer to a question on the gift. Then I went around and asked individuals the question and they had to go and find their gift by finding the answer. I thought that it turned out pretty good. Instead of ripping through the gifts, we actually took about 1 1/2 hours to get through them. Did I mention that the kids woke us up at 5:00. I had just gotten to sleep when Chad came and jumped on the bed. Ya - I know mom & dad - pay back time.
Christmas day was spent in Lethbridge at James & Jody's for lunch and then off the Ramada with the Evanson's. It was a lot of fun.
The rest of the week I worked.
We spent New Year's Eve at the Ramada - yes I said the Ramada (again) - with the Jensen Family.
That was my Christmas. It is always good to get together with family.
This past weekend we moved Melissa and Dayne into a house. I know that Melissa is so excited to finally be on their own. I think that it will be good for them to get a taste of what the real world is all about - especially how much it costs to live. I have to admit I thought that I was going to be lonely, but surprisingly, it's not all that bad.

The Good & the Bad

I can't believe that it has already been a week since I got started with this blogging. A lot has happened over the week - some good and some bad. It seems like time has speed up and there isn't enough time in a day to get everything done. I am, however, almost finished my Christmas shopping - and that's a good thing since Christmas is NEXT week.
My heart goes out to all of the families of the boys who were in the tragic car accident on Friday. It always hits a bit closer to home when family if involved. I am praying for Chris and his family - hoping that all will turn out well.

I'm a Blogger

Ok - I thought that I would give this a try! I have read other people's blogs and have found them quite interesting. I am not saying that mine will be, but I thought that I would give it a try. Since it is December I thought that I would just do a little bit of updating and let you all know what has been happening with myself and my family over the past year.
I would have to say that one of the most important events would have to be my daughter Melissa getting married. Melissa married Dayne Francom on October 11, 2008. So now I have a son-in-law! I am pretty sure that I am too young for that! We all love Dayne. He fits so well into our family and is a lot of fun. They are living with us right now. Dayne was in a car accident in July and broke his back. He just has about 1 more month of recovery and then he will be able to go back to work. I will miss having them around but I am sure they are looking forward to some time alone.
As for me, I am still working at the Horizon School Division Maintenance Department as the Administrative Support (just a fancy word for secretary). I have a pretty heavy load there with my job consisting of many things; accounts payable, health and safety, WHMIS training, ordering supplies, etc. - too many things to name. I love my job and work with some really great people.
Eric is working at McCains. He is a lead Maintenance Mechanic and for the most part I think that he likes his job.
Melissa graduated from the Massage Therapy program in April and is working on getting her own practice up and going. Until that happens, she is also working for Telus.
Dayne is coaching the Taber Wrestling Team and I have him doing as many odd jobs around the house as I can. He rebuilt my deck and just finished putting laminate flooring in my kitchen and living room and also replace all of my moldings in those rooms. He is a very handy guy to have around.
Karah is working for Jensen's Welding (no relation) as their secretary. I think that she is going to save up some money and go to Hair Design School in the fall.
Chad is in grade 9. I can't believe that this will be the last year for my kids in the Barnwell School! He is playing basketball and also plays his X-Box 360 as much as I will let him.
We are all very busy and sometimes it is hard to all be together at the same time.
I am looking forward to Christmas and spending time with my immediate and extended families.
